- SLT Music Newsletter
- Fundraising
Global Coffee Fundraiser - Ever fall we partner up with Global Coffee Fundraising located in Maple Ridge. They offer premium locally roasted and packaged coffee in whole bean or pre ground. All proceeds from the fundraiser will go towards reducing the cost of the grade 8 band trip for each student who attends.
Please place orders here. The last day to place orders is December 3rd, my hope is that I can get it to the school in time for our concert!
Concert donations - Following suit with the other band programs around our district we will be collecting any monetary donations at the doors of our concerts. Our concerts will remain free admission, any donations will go towards the music program and are used to help provide instruments for families who require financial assistance, as well as, helping to off set costs for trips across the band program.
- Band Swag
We also offer Music swag like hoodies and T-Shirts, as well as custom leather music folders. Order swag through our local company Sapphire Creative, here.
A bit about the Program...
Band at Stitó:s runs during our Flex block every other day. Flex is a block that all students participate in, they are grouped with one of their pod classroom teachers and pursue passion area's that the teacher rotates throughout the year, or they can take Band with me during that time which runs all school year.
Our Band program is always on the go with something. Students learn so much more than just to play an instrument, we learn about music theory, we explore how the music industry has helped shape parts of our culture and community, ask big questions like how can music influence our social and emotional health, and a big part of my teaching philosophy is to help foster independence and self-confidence in my students.
We participate in our local Chilliwack Music and Dance festival hosted at G.W Graham every spring in March were have won the Top Jr. concert Band trophy for the years 2024 and 2025. We also organize fun trips for our grade 8 Band students every year and have a blast! Every Band student also participates in an evening concert that we put on at the school at the end of each term.
Please check our Band Calendar frequently for updates on upcoming school concerts, and other performance opportunities.
