We’re excited to welcome everyone back to school! Please take a look at our school website for the most up-to-date information. A reminder for our Grade 6 students is we have our WAVE event happening on Thursday August 28^th from 9-12. Info was sent out throughout the summer. Here is what you need to know for our first week together:

First Week Schedule for Grade 1-5 Students...

• Day 1 (Tuesday September 2nd) From 8:26-10:31 am: Students return to last year’s classroom. New students meet in the library and will be placed in groups. Students will be dismissed from the same classrooms. New students will be dismissed from the library.
• Day 2 (Wednesday September 3rd) From 8:26 am - 2:24 pm: Students return to last year's classroom. New students begin in the library. Students will be dismissed at the end of the day at these locations:
• Gr. 1 → Kindergarten playground with black gate
• Gr. 2 → Treehouse playground
• Gr. 3 → Gaga ball area
• Gr. 4 → Outside library
• Gr. 5 → Swings
• September 4th from 8:26-2:24 pm: Students meet at the grade group area where they were dismissed yesterday and will take part in different activities with their grade group.
• September 5th from 8:26-2:24 pm: Students meet again at grade group areas. Parents will receive an email by Sunday evening confirming class placements. Students will begin Monday at the classroom listed in the class placement email.

First Week Schedule for Grade 6-8 Students...

• Tuesday, September 2nd - 8:26-10:31 am: Grade 6 students - will meet in the Small Gym to find their class. Lists will be posted, and staff members will be available with lists to assist with finding their space.  Grade 7 and 8 students  - will meet in the Big Gym to find their class. Lists will be posted, and staff members will be available with lists to assist with finding their space. All students will exit through the doors that they are expected to use to enter and exit the building going forward.
• Wednesday, September 3rd - 8:26 am - 2:24 pm: Students will line up at the door they exited at the end of Tuesday. Today will be a Day 1 so some students will be going to exploratories.
• Thursday, September 4th - 8:26 am - 2:24 pm: Students will line up at the door they exited at the end of Tuesday. Today will be a Day 2 so some students will be going to exploratories.

• Friday, September 5th - 8:26 am - 2:24 pm: This will be a Day 1. Students will line up at the door they exited at the end of Tuesday. Today will be a Day 1 so some students will be going to exploratories.

   

 As we prepare for another exciting school year, I want to take a moment to share how class placements are determined at Stitó:s Lá:lém Totí:lt. With over 980 students in our school, this process is complex and thoughtful.

We work closely with last year’s classroom teachers, students, and our Learning Services team to create classes that best meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of all learners. At the same time, we must ensure that our classes remain balanced and aligned with staffing contracts.

Because of the care taken in this process, changes to class placements will not be considered unless there are exceptional circumstances and the change makes clear educational sense. We appreciate your trust and support as we work to create the best possible learning environment for every child in our school.
